What browser is recommended to view this site?
Although FilmFind is compatible with all major browsers, we recommend using Google Chrome to browse the website.
Why should I register?
FilmFind is a small but growing community built on providing our users up-to-date information on movies old and new. In order to provide the bulk of that information, we need users like you to contribute to our growing database of movies so that other users may benefit as well. As a thank you for signing up and contributing, we offer our users access to our advanced search with unlimited return results and our MovieNight! search engine, as well as message board access and information not available to non-users. You also get a profile page so that you can save and display your favorite actors and movies and share them with everyone else!
How do I become a "Top Contributor" and what are the benefits?
A "Top Contributor" has added at least a combined total of 200 movies and actors to FilmFind's database. As a reward, we display the "Top Contributor" badge on your profile page. Top Contributors are proven users of FilmFind, and they are granted the privilege to add/edit editor reviews as well as edit role names.
If I forget my password, is there a way to retrieve it?
If you forget your password, click on the "Forgot Password" link on the log in page. From there, you will be asked for your e-mail and, if you have set up your security questions, your security questions on the next page. You will be given a new password to log in with. It is recommended that you change your password as soon as you log in by accessing account settings.
Why can't I find a certain movie or actor in your database?
Keep in mind FilmFind is project site started recently by one person. Not all movies and actors are stored in our database yet. If a page does not exist for a movie or actor you are searching for, you can also add them to our database. Remember, this is a community-based project that relies on its users to post movies and actors into our database to share with everyone else.
Why can't I delete a movie/actor from the database?
In order to protect the integrity of the database's information, only the admin is allowed to delete movies, actors, roles, etc. Once a page is created for an actor or movie, it will remain in the database. If you find a user-created movie or actor that you believe may be fictitious and wish for it to be deleted, you must contact admin.
How do I edit or add a movie or actor into the database?
You can add a movie/actor by clicking on the appropriate link in the top navigation bar of your user profile. From there, you will be directed to another page where you can enter information about new data. To edit already existing movies and actors, you can edit the page by clicking the edit button at the top right of the respective movie/actor page.
What if I want to delete my account?
Please contact our Accounts department on deleting your account.
I noticed an error on a movie/actor. How do I change it?
If the information just needs to be edited, you can edit the movie/actor page by clinking on the "edit" link located at the top-right corner of the respective page. If the information is erroneous and needs to be deleted, please contact admin so that it may be fixed as soon as possible.
How come there aren't tv shows on FilmFind?
FilmFind is a site specifically made for movies. Hopefully in the future we will add this function.
How can I optimize my search?
For more specific searches, you can try our Advanced Search page. Also, using the % sign in our search bar acts as a "wild card", so a search query of 't%e' will return any results that have a 't' and 'e' in them with any or no string between the two letters. Using an underscore acts like %, except a search of "t_e" will find movies containing 't' and 'e' with one letter between them. Two underscores denotes 2 letters, etc.
Why isn't there a confirmation e-mail when I register?
Unfortunately, our SMTP server does not allow outgoing mail. In order to upgrade our services to include confirmation email capabilities, we need to upgrade. Upgrade requires money, and since it is only one person running FilmFind, money is hard to come by. However, if you like our service, you can click on the "Donate" button located at the bottom of every page so that we can pay to keep this site running!
I sent an email to FilmFind. When can I expect a reply?
Normally, you can expect a reply within 24 hours.
I keep getting a "query too large" result when searching. Why?
Nearly everything except the general search is available only to registered users. We limit the search to 50 results per page, and results over that limit returns a "query too large" error to encourage visitors to sign up for our service. By signing up, you will have access to advanced search options, which will return all results, including those that return more than 50.
